From a young age, I would bake with my Grunny for the annual Daffodil Teas. I was in charge of spooning the pancake batter onto the girdle making sure all the pancakes were even – any that didn’t ‘make the cut’ I got to eat… some may have been on purpose so that me and my Granda could have them for our cuppa.
We finished up having a mountain of bakes, shortbread, girdle scones, her classic chocolate cake, my ‘butterflied’ queen cakes and the pancakes all ready to take down to Kincardine O’ Neil Hall.
I loved trying everyone else’s home bakes and anything that wasn’t sold we got to take home.
There is no better feeling than to be given free rein on a cake, I love experimenting, whether it’s a new recipe or a new theme any excuse for a cake whether it be because it’s raining or 1st day back at school.
Lockdown sparked my passion for baking again and after a few gentle nudges from family and friends, I have now let the fire take a hold and i am looking forward to where this will take me.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
